Letters are the most vital form of written communication to exist in human history. Their significance goes far beyond being a cultural object or social act. Letters provide evidence of human contact between individuals from every part of society and all peoples. Many questions have been asked. Many questions remain.

The letters and letter writing project was born out of a need to address these and many more issues inside and outside academia, in our work, in our homes, and our lives. The project acts as a forum for discussion, sharing, meeting, dialogue, and publication. It seeks to unite those with a shared interest, whatever it may be, in letters from all geographical locations and all historical time periods.
